BBC


The BBC was the worlds first national broadcasting company. It was was founded on 18 October 1922. It was founded by 6 telecommunications companies. They were, radio communications company, Marconi, Metropolitan-Vickers, General Electric, Western Electric and British Thomson Houston.

The British Broadcasting Corporation are the biggest media and broadcasters in the world. The BBC is a publically owned corporation, under a Royal Charter issued by the british crown and it is overseen by 12 governors.

The BBC provides radio, television and internet broadcasting within the UK, Channel Island and Isle of Man. The BBC has been broadasting by radio since the 1930's but more recently now televison and online.

Future PLC


Future PLC is an international media company, they are a UK business that is based in Bath and London. They produce websites, magazines and other specialist sectors including games, technology, cycling, films and photography. They produce over 80 magazines and over 25 million users to its website.

IPC Media


IPC Media is one of the UK's leading consumer magazine and digital publishers, with a large portfolio that sells over 350 million copies each year. The company was formed as the International Publishing Company in 1963, because it owned 3 companies. In 1968 the company bought the Daily Mirror and then became IPC-Mirror-Group. In 1998 IPC was in a league of its own, they were subject to a management buyout, the company was renames IPC Media in 2000.

News Corp


News Corp was created in 1980 by Rupert Murdoch as a holding company for news limited. News Corp was by Murdoch by the assets he inherited in 1952 following the death of his father, Sir Keith Murdoch. The main asset left to him was ownership of the adelaide afternoon tabloid, The News.

News Corp is the world second largest media institution behind The Walt Disney Company. News corp is a publically traded company that is that is listed in the New York Stock Exchange and with the Austrailian and London stock exchange. Formally corporated in South Austrailia, the company was re-incorporated into Delware general corporation law, and was approved in november 2004.

Harris Publications

Harris Publications Inc. is a magazine publisher that is located in New York. They publish XXL, Smooth Magazine, Slam Magazine and other titles. Harris Publications also publishes outdoor magazines, on titles such as Fishing, Hunting and Firearms.

Harris Publications also publish there own comics, they specialise in horror magazines such as Creepy and Vampirelle, this still continues today, including comic stories and non-fiction articles.

Times Incorparated


Times inc. is the subsidiary of the media group Time Warner. The company were formed by the 1990 merger of Times Inc. and Warner communications. Times inc. publishes over 130 magazines, some magazines include Vibe, southern living, Golf magazine and entertainment weekly. It also owns IPC media, whos titles include NME and NUTS.

In 2008 Times Inc. an internet based magazine called MAGHOUND. The server includes over 300 magazine titles from Times inc. and other brands.
